In today’s news, China extends humanitarian aid to Pakistan following floods, Australian study discovers how students get lonelier, US scientists develop ultra-sensitive sensor for detecting forever chemicals in water, Guyana village gains 24/7 power with new solar grid, UK wildlife expert leads elephant-people welfare project in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam, consumer goods firm grows after acquiring vegan jerky company in United States, and Portuguese stray dog-person saved from euthanasia works as pet detective finding lost animal-citizens in the UK.

I have a practical tip on how to open a can without an opener. Roll or fold a piece of paper, like from an A4 sheet or receipt, until it’s firm. Hold the can with one hand and vigorously rub the paper’s edge against the pull tab joint repeatedly. The friction from rubbing creates a slight heat that helps soften the aluminum seal, while the pressure from the carbon dioxide inside the can adds an extra push, making it easier for the tab to pop open. It’s a quick fix, but be cautious, the can’s edge can be sharp, and flimsy paper might tear. Note that this trick might not work on all can designs.

Time for a tiny laugh adventure with today’s joke! This one’s called “Welcome Home.”

At 59, Bridget often prided herself on looking younger than her age. Compliments, surprised reactions, even the occasional “You don’t look a day over 45” – she quietly collected them like trophies. One afternoon, she was dropping off her mother’s suitcases at the nursing home. As she approached the entrance, two elderly gentlemen kindly held the door open. One smiled and said warmly:

“You’re going to love it here.”

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, from Zi-Xuan in China
