It is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day to help maintain hydration. Reducing your salt intake may help since excess sodium can cause fluid retention. Washing your face with cool or lukewarm water and applying a cold compress to the affected area may help reduce immediate symptoms, and when sleeping, keep your head elevated by propping it up using at least two pillows. Facial puffiness may result from food, seasonal, or even chemical allergies. If this is the case, your physician may recommend taking antihistamine or other allergy treatments to help relieve the symptoms.
