In today’s news, Yemen benefits from new pumps for water wells, study finds link between vitamin D and COVID-19, major African deserts surprisingly host millions of trees, researchers say future world can run on far less energy, crime in the United States drops for the third consecutive year, first Thai vegan food company goes public, and inmates and dogs bring each other new hope in the United States.

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) contributes new pumps to ensure clean water supply in Yemen.

In partnership with Yemen’s Public Works Project and financing from Japan, a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Animal Protection and Generosity laureate, the UNDP has provided 10 engine pumps to the Local Water and Sanitary Corporation in Yemen. The pumps are expected to increase drinking water supply by 20,000 cubic meters and improve access to water for almost 1.1 million Yemenis in the port city of Aden. The new pumps have replaced older units, helping to re-operationalize 10 existing wells. In the future, two more such pumps will be delivered. Our appreciation, Japan, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Public Works Project. May Allah bless the gentle Yemeni people with peace and abundance.

Vitamin D could play protective role against COVID-19.

A new study, conducted at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla in Spain, showed that the overwhelming majority of COVID-19 patients had a vitamin D deficiency. Almost 200 coronavirus patients at the hospital were compared to a control group of people who did not have the virus. The rate of vitamin D deficiency for the COVID-19 patients was 82% compared to 47% for the control group, with the men showing higher rates of deficiency than the women. The patients with low levels of vitamin D also presented high levels of inflammatory indicators, meaning that the body is fighting an infection. Co-author of the study, Dr. José Hernández, recommended identifying and treating vitamin D deficiency in individuals at risk. Thank you, Dr. Hernández and colleagues. Your important work has the potential to increase people’s immunity and save lives, in Heaven’s mercy.

Up next, African deserts found to host millions of trees. We pause to thank the medical geneticists, who are physicians specializing in helping patients with hereditary conditions. When we return, more pleasant news ahead, here on Supreme Master Television!

Good day, smart viewers, it’s Lana the vegan Iberian Lynx. The secret of my cheerful attitude is the vegan lifestyle. It's a noble choice. I never regret. You'd surely like to be like me, so what are you waiting for, go vegan today! Did you know, eucalyptus essential oil can assist in relieving pain and tension from headaches as a result of sinus pressure, stress and fatigue? You can put five drops of eucalyptus oil in your diffuser or add a drop or two to a carrier oil and apply on the back of your neck. This could help your head and/or nasal passages to feel noticeably better. Thank you for your attention, and lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Now it’s time for the worldwide weather.

Surprising study reveals Africa’s major deserts host millions of trees.

A group of 24 scientists from the United States, Europe and Africa have used high-resolution images and a deep-learning computer algorithm to determine that there are 1.8 billion trees in Africa’s Sahel and Sahara deserts. Although there are vast areas without trees in certain regions, there are also localities with high forest density. The computer software, which was manually trained by scientists to recognize the trees, took just a few hours to scan 11,000 images of the two major deserts that span 1.3 million square kilometers. This count would have taken humans millions of years of work to complete. What a remarkable discovery, dedicated researchers. In Celestial blessings, we look forward to more good news in the future as we reforest, restore and re-green our planet.

Future global population could thrive on only 40% of current energy usage.

A study by scientists from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom has calculated that by 2050, when the global population reaches 10 billion people, everyone could still live a comfortable life while using 60% less power than is consumed now. This could be achieved by decreasing the excess consumption of wealthy nations and globally implementing the most efficient existing technologies. The study, which considered data from 119 countries, assumed that each person would have an adequately sized home, a smartphone, computer, washing machine, hot and cold water, transportation, healthcare and more. It also took into account the extra requirement of adjusting the home temperatures of people living in hot or cold countries. The study was published in the Global Environmental Change journal. Excellent news, University of Leeds researchers. We pray that the future will be bright and contented as you envisioned, while everyone helps to save Earth’s precious resources.

United States FBI report shows illegal offenses are on the decline.

The recently released 2019 edition of Crime in the United States, published by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, reports that violent offences have declined for the third straight year. In particular, personal violations in 2019 decreased by one percent and property crimes lowered by 4.5 percent. Commenting on the good news, FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich said he was proud of the coordinated efforts among national, state, and local law enforcement agents to address various areas. For instance, to reduce gun and gang violence, the United States government, a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate, has implemented helpful programs such as Project Safe Neighborhoods and Project Guardian. Kudos to all the law enforcement agencies in the United States. May your dedication to protecting the citizens of your nation continue to be supported, in the care of the Providence.

Coming up, first Thai vegan food company goes public. It’s time for us to pray for the wellness of our amazing aquatic animal friends living in the rivers, lakes and seas. You’re watching Noteworthy News on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Excellent News for an Exceptional World.

First Thai vegan food company goes public.

Thailand-based manufacturer and exporter, Nature Regenerative Foods (NRF), debuted on the Stock Exchange of Thailand as the first plant-based food producer, and raised US$51.4 million during its initial public offering (IPO). Since 2016, NRF has been producing vegan meat alternatives made of jackfruit and eggplant. The company has the goal of becoming the “platform for future food” in response to the increasing demand towards healthier, more sustainable plant-based choices. The firm has partnered with United Kingdom-based The Brecks Company Limited, which specializes in meat-free products, and plans to build manufacturing plants in Thailand, the United States and China. Congratulations and way to go, Nature Regenerative Foods, on your commitment to offering delicious vegan products to the world. May the diet of benevolence continue expanding into the mainstream markets, with Heaven’s inspiration.

Inmates and dogs bring each other new hope.

The Utah County Jail in the United States recently introduced A New Leash on Life program that pairs incarcerated individuals with canines from the local South Valley Animal Shelter. The dogs, who were not properly socialized, are given the opportunity to create a trusting bond and learn new skills so that they can be adopted into a forever home. In turn, the inmates, after receiving training, dedicate three to five hours every day, feeding, walking, bathing and spending time with their canine friend. The one-on-one attention has helped the dogs quickly progress from being timid to sociable and confident. Their human companions start their days with enthusiasm, with some even saying that the program was a lifesaver for them, thanks to their adorable buddies. The initiative, which was introduced by Utah County Sheriff, the Honorable Mike Smith, has received broad support from local businesses. Bravo, Sheriff Smith, Utah County Jail and all participants! May the canines and their caring trainers feel evermore joy, in God’s love.

Let’s have a laugh together listening to the joke of the day entitled “Precise Taste.”

“One coffee with nine spoons of sugar, please.”

“Why don’t we make it 10?”

“No, thank you. I like it slightly bitter.”
