In today’s news, Taiwan, also known as Formosa, supports social relief efforts in St. Vincent. Global health burdens produced by plastics expected to more than double by 2040, United States initiates nationwide anti-addiction program, regional Western Australia approves tiny-home village, US pilot saves students after tree crashes through roof in ice storm, Swiss biotech firm manufactures mycoprotein for less than US$1 per kilogram, and South African donkey-people sanctuary enters new home.

I have a handy tip for those with cat companions. Use straw instead of hay for your feline friend’s outdoor house to keep them warm and cozy during the winter. Although the two look similar, there are distinct differences. Straw, or the dry leftover stalks from harvested crops, repels moisture, making it ideal bedding for outdoor shelters. In contrast, hay, usually used to feed animal-folk like horse-people, absorbs moisture, making it cold and uncomfortable. Additionally, hay also has the potential to get moldy. The easiest way to spot the difference between the two is the price: hay typically costs two or three times more than straw. Additionally, straw is thick, strong, lightweight, and yellow or golden in color. Hay, on the other hand, is generally heavy and green, but there are varieties, so if you’re unsure ask the clerk! To prepare your cat-companion’s bedding simply loosely pack the straw to the quarter or halfway point in their shelter. Now they’ll be comfy and cozy!

Ready for a joke that’ll make you laugh out loud? Here’s a fun one entitled “Damage Control.”

Saving for a new car on a teacher’s salary takes a while. So, in the meantime, a teacher borrowed an old junker from her mechanic friend. The vehicle was so beat up, even its dents had dents. The teacher came out of school one day to find a police officer and a woman examining it.

“What’s going on, officer?”

“I saw this lady hit your car, but I can’t figure out where.”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Persian, with multiple-language subtitles, from Giti in Iran
