And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Tsai-Yen in Taiwan, also known as Formosa:
One afternoon in 2024, I took advantage of a rare free period and wandered aimlessly around the campus. Without realizing it, my feet led me into the “school store,” a place I had never entered before. Inside, the shelves were filled with a dazzling array of snacks, beverages, microwaveable meal boxes, and hot foods, all carrying the tempting aromas that teenagers love. However, as I curiously examined the meals on the shelves one by one, my heart sank — there was not even a single healthy full meal labeled “vegan,” “vegetarian,” or “plant-based” here. The idea that “I want to change the dietary habits of the entire school and have the school store provide healthy vegan plant-based meals” kept lingering in my mind. As an educator, this would not only improve students’ physical health but also be a way to personally practice carbon reduction, environmental protection, and saving the Earth.
Together with fellow practitioners who were skilled at preparing vegan dishes, I went around actively promoting the idea and discussing it repeatedly. We knew that only by removing the stereotypes of traditional vegan food could we truly enter the world of young people. As a result, rich vegan curry rice, colorful vegan plant-based sushi rolls, exquisite vegan sushi, and refreshing vegan Thai-style spicy and sour cold noodles were successively launched. We attract teachers and students who enjoy trying new foods and care about maintaining their physique by offering exotic dishes that are both visually appealing and delicious. At the same time, we deliver the unfinished meals each day to elderly people living alone, disadvantaged patients in hospitals, and homeless people, thus doing acts of kindness while preventing food waste. Furthermore, in life technology classes, we guide students to calculate the carbon emissions generated by each meal, transforming the carbon-reduction challenge into the trendiest and coolest culture on campus.
From zero supply in 2024 to today in 2026, we now provide approximately 300 vegan meals every day on a stable basis. This green power has quietly nourished one-third of the school’s faculty and students. Winning the “Outstanding School Store Award” issued by the Ministry of the Interior for two consecutive years has been a recognition of our efforts to promote sustainable campus meals. We look forward to the day when campuses in the future will be filled with the fragrance of 100% vegan choices. Through the choices we make in every meal, what we plant in our children’s hearts is a seed of kindness — love for animal-people and a commitment to environmental sustainability. Motivated Tsai-Yen, Wow, what an incredible transformation your efforts created at your school. We applaud you and your fellow practitioners who worked so diligently to make this happen. It shows the power of what one person’s inspiration can accomplish. Hopefully, your example encourages others to act on their ideas to help create a vegan world so we can all do our part to save our planet. May you and the conscientious people of Taiwan (Formosa) experience the Divine presence of GOD within and all around you, Supreme Master TV team
