Dr. Roger Payne was the first person to release a vinyl record that introduced the magnificent songs of the humpback whale to the world. The recording spawned an extensive outpouring of wonder and emotion. So intriguing were the whale songs that many liken them to the amazement evoked by gazing at pictures of deep outer space.
