In today’s news, US and international aid organizations partner to help vulnerable citizens in Cuba. Study from Italy finds association between microplastics exposure and heart disease, Taiwanese (Formosan) researchers find signs human genome continues to evolve, New Zealand adds five new national marine protection reserves, police officer rescues driver from burning vehicle in Texas, USA, UK vegan health brand debuts new line of protein drinks, and new wildlife hospital to treat native species opens in Singapore.

Today, I have a simple, zero-dollar cleaning tip. Instead of throwing away those old or worn-out socks, turn them into handy dusting tools. Slip a thick cotton or fuzzy sock over the end of a broom or coat hanger to reach hidden dust in low gaps, high corners and other hard-to-reach places. You can also use a damp sock with a little dish soap to clean steel surfaces or try a mixture of water and white vinegar for windows. After cleaning, use a clean, dry sock to wipe the surface and prevent streaks. When you're finished, simply wash the socks and reuse them. Cotton or other durable, absorbent socks work best, while slippery synthetic materials may not trap dust as effectively. A simple way to clean your home while giving old socks a second life.

Let’s see if we can get you laughing with the joke of the day, entitled “A Literal Waiter.”

A puzzled customer called the waiter over to his table.

“Waiter, come here at once! Why is there a footprint in the middle of my vegan sandwich?”

“You told me to hurry up and step on it, sir.”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Meng-Ping in China
